Where’s Hunter Biden?
After President Trump posted the question on his Twitter feed yesterday, thousands of social media users responded with the rapidly trending #whereshunter hashtag.
One user posted the hashtag on a t-shirt, while others likened the search for Hunter Biden, the son of former vice president and leading Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, to the popular children’s book series “Where’s Waldo?”
A user named @Kentucky_Colonel tweeted the hashtag and a map of Ukraine.
Joe Biden’s youngest son is at the center of a widening scandal that began in July when Trump asked Ukrainian officials to investigate the pair in a telephone call to the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. The phone call, which came to light last month, fueled a campaign by the Democrats to impeach Trump.
According to Trump, when Biden was vice president he encouraged the firing of Ukraine’s top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin because he was investigating the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, which employed his son. Hunter Biden became a member of Burisma’s board in 2014, earning $100,000 a month, while his father was vice president.
Earlier this month, Twitter removed President Trump’s tweet of a parody of a video by the Canadian band Nickelback showing Joe Biden on a golf course along with Hunter and his business partner in Burisma Holdings. The band immediately demanded that the video be removed from Twitter even as it led to a huge spike in sales for its music.
