Get ready for a cold night.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for all of north Alabama and part of central Alabama that will go into effect tonight.
Temperatures are expected to fall as low as 28 degrees in north Alabama and 30 degrees in the warning area in central Alabama, according to forecasters.
A cold front is forecast to move through the area today and will bring some clouds but no rain. It will also bring a dose of cold air behind it and windy conditions.
That will be rough on sensitive plants or exposed pipes.
The freeze warning for north Alabama will last from midnight until 8 a.m. Monday, according to the weather service in Huntsville:
The counties affected are Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman.
The central Alabama freeze warning will be in effect from midnight until 8 a.m. Monday, according to the weather service in Birmingham:
Temperatures could fall as low as 30 degrees overnight, the weather service said.
The counties in that warning are Marion, Winston, Blount, Etowah, Cherokee, Lamar, Fayette, Walker, Calhoun, Cleburne, Jefferson, St. Clair and Talladega.
Another cold night is expected on Monday -- and forecasters said frost advisories may be needed Monday night -- but then temperatures are forecast to warm up during the rest of the week.
