EAST PEORIA (WEEK) - A reminder of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is coming to East Peoria later this year, and city leaders are seeking donations to fund the event and at the same time honor local veterans.
The 300-foot-long wall with the names of war dead will be in East Peoria's Levee Park at 401 W. Washington St. from Sept. 23-27. Admission is free and several activities are planned when the wall is on display.
Businesses, other organizations, and the general public are asked to make donations, which are tax deductible, to help bring the wall to East Peoria, and benefit the Greater Peoria Honor Flight, which takes veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit national memorial sites.
Checks should be made payable to the East Peoria Community Foundation and mailed to 401 W. Washington St., East Peoria, 61611.
