Next cold front to bring rain and possible thunderstorms Monday that could produce hail - mySA

Published

A cold front is set to move into the San Antonio area Monday bringing with it cooler temperatures and the possibility of severe weather including storms capable of producing possible large hail into Monday afternoon, National Weather Service models show.

A slow moving upper level storm system will bring the threat of scattered thunderstorms over South-Central Texas Sunday night through Wednesday.

Meteorologists predict some of the rainfall Tuesday night could accumulate into the 1 to 3 inch range north of a line from Kerrville to San Antonio and to Karnes City, which could produce localized flooding. Rain chances should clear out by Wednesday afternoon.

Monday (High 68 and Low 57) Temperatures will start off warm in the morning in the upper 60s and then drop to the 50s as the cold front arrives Monday afternoon. There is also plenty of moisture in the air helping this front spark off shower activity as it moves closer to San Antonio. Monday rain chances continue all day with a slight chance to see a thunderstorm through Monday night.

Tuesday (High 56 and Low 50) The cold front will stall to the south of San Antonio sitting along the Texas coast. This will keep rain chances and thunderstorms in our forecast. This front could also bring pockets of heavy rainfall on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Temperatures will stay in the 50s all day under cloudy skies, so you want to keep those jackets near.

Wednesday (High 66 and Low 48) The rain and clouds start to clear by Wednesday afternoon as drier air moves in. Therefore, with clearing skies temperatures start to warm in the upper 60s.

Thursday (High 60 and Low 43) A beautiful day with sunny skies and cool weather with a high temperature of near 60 degrees.

Friday (High 58 and Low 42) This will be a copy and paste day of Thursday's temperatures and sky conditions. However, the humidity will return by Friday afternoon warming our weather for the weekend.
