KALAMAZOO, MI – Police are investigating multiple reports of gunfire Tuesday, July 28, including shots fired into houses.
Kalamazoo police responded around 8:15 p.m. to the 900 block of Albert Avenue, north of East Main Street, for a report of gunfire striking a house. The resident reported that a window had been damaged.
Police determined that a bullet went through the window and into the home. Investigators recovered evidence at the scene and canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses.
A half-hour earlier, police responded to multiple reports of gunfire, not far away, in the 500 block of Edwin Avenue, south of East Main Street.
Residents reported numerous shots were fired. Witness told police that a vehicle, driven recklessly, struck a curb while fleeing. Police found spent bullet casings of different calibers, indicating multiple weapons were fired.
Earlier in the evening, police said shots were fired at three houses on North Park Street.
Police did not say if any of the incidents were believed related.
