N.J. weather: Week ahead to bring heat and possible storms, after busy beach weekend - NJ.com

A sweltering, stormy week is on tap for much of New Jersey before the rain gives way to sun and clear skies.

Monday is expected to bring a high near 95 and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Thunderstorms rain are likely to emerge later that night, with some storms possibly bringing gusty winds.

Forecasts show Tuesday could also be stormy, with a chance of heavy rainfall in the afternoon. Highs will range from the upper 80s to lower 90s.

The chance of storms is expected to linger through Wednesday before giving way to sun and heat Thursday, when temperatures will reach the mid to lower 90s.

Areas of the state could see scattered thunderstorms early Friday before partly sunny skies and temperatures around the low 90s, according to forecasts.

The Fourth of July weekend brought temperatures around the 90s to the Jersey Shore, where beaches appeared busy Sunday.
