Greeley residents who want to save water can do so with the city’s showerhead exchange program.
The city will hold its final exchange of the year on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Greeley Farmers’ Market.
Water customers can exchange old showerheads for a new high-efficiency and low-use model. The program offers multiple types of showerheads for exchange, including handheld, massage and soft spa.
The showerheads also come in white or chrome finishes to match existing bathroom fixtures. Residents can exchange multiple showerheads if they have more than one bathroom that needs to be upgraded.
The exchange program offers fixtures approved by the Environmental Protection Agency for water conservation. These products work as well or better than conventional models while using up to 20% less water, the EPA states. This translates to roughly one gallon of water saved per minute, saving about 2,700 gallons of water per year and an estimated $70 reduction in yearly water bills.
Customers must bring a Greeley water bill with their account number or a driver’s license for proof of residency. Owners or managers of multifamily complexes may also participate in the showerhead exchange program but should call (970) 350-9874 to make arrangements for the exchange of larger quantities.
Residents are asked to follow COVID-19 regulations by wearing a mask, cleaning hands, standing six feet or more from others and limiting touch.
The Farmers’ Market is located at the Union Pacific Depot, 902 7th Ave.
