Texans bring in ex-Ravens safety Earl Thomas for visit - NBCSports.com

Earl Thomas' tenure as a free agent could be coming to an end.

The former Baltimore Ravens safety, who was released in August following an altercation during practice with fellow safety Chuck Clark, visited the Houston Texans on Monday, according to the NFL's transaction wire.

This is Thomas' first visit to any NFL club since his release from Baltimore last month. There is mutual interest between Houston and the safety, according to NFL Networks' Ian Rapoport.

The move makes sense for the Texans, should they sign Thomas, as their secondary has struggled throughout the first three games of the season. At 0-3, Houston needs to make changes to the back end of its defense immediately if it hopes to turn things around in 2020.

Thomas, 31, originally signed a four-year, $55 million contract with the Ravens in March of 2019. The safety is a four-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowler.

In his 15 games with Baltimore, Thomas notched two interceptions and finished with 49 total tackles. Previously, he spent nine years in Seattle, where he made up part of the famed "Legion of Boom" secondary.
