Washoe Co. Manager looks forward to what 2021 will bring - KOLO

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - After the challenging year of 2020, there is new hope for what 2021 will bring.

Washoe County leaders hope there will be new help to deal with the economic issues brought by the COVID pandemic.

Washoe County Manager Eric Brown says the County was able to use federal CARES Act funding to start a business relief program to help small businesses.

There is still no definitive word on what the second stimulus package passed in Washington will mean for Washoe County, but Brown says any help will be put to good use. " We’re hopeful that the new package provides additional funding for local communities like ours, we’ve certainly learned a lot over the last 9 or 10 months.”

Brown adds that federal funds have also been used to help with distance learning in the Washoe County School District and to help the District with contact tracing.
