EAST WENATCHEE — For the second year in a row, there will be no official trip for Wenatchee Valley delegates to visit their sister city in Misawa, Japan.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the cancellation of both trips. Ordinarily the cultural exchange sends representatives to commemorate the trans-Pacific flight of Clyde Pangborn and Hugh Herndon in 1931.
The sister city relationship was established on the 50-year anniversary of the flight, in 1981. Organizers with the Wenatchee Valley Misawa Sister City Association say they’re already making plans, with fingers crossed, for 2022.
