Kevin Dotson, who lost his starting job at guard with the acquisition of Isaac Seumalo, was traded by the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night in an exchange of draft picks over the 2024-25 seasons.
The Steelers will get the Rams’ fourth-round pick in 2024 and a fifth-round pick in 2025. The Rams will get the Steelers’ fifth-round pick in 2024 and a sixth-rounder in 2025.
Dotson was the Steelers’ fourth-round pick in the 2020 draft. He made 30 starts in 39 appearances over the next three seasons, becoming the full-time starter at left guard in 2022 when he started all 17 games and didn’t miss a snap.
He became expendable, however, when the Steelers signed Seumalo and Nate Herbig in free agency.
The trade opens a spot on the interior of the Steelers offensive line. Kendrick Green, a third-round pick in 2021, has the flexibility to play guard and center. Dotson only had played guard in his career.
