Ione Skye, who starred alongside Matthew Perry in his 1988 debut film “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,” revealed that the late actor texted her mere days before his untimely death Saturday.
Taking to social media, Skye, 53, shared two screenshots of her last conversation with Perry, 54, which took place Oct. 15.
“Hi! I hope all is well. I was meditating (I meditate now) and ‘In Your Eyes’ started playing. And I instantly thought of how beautiful you are,” Perry wrote, referring to Peter Gabriel’s song from Skye’s 1989 film “Say Anything.”
“Awe. I love that. Xo,” she replied, while Perry followed up with “hope you are healthy and happy.”
In the next screenshot, Skye tells her former co-star that it was “good to hear from you” and that “I only have nice memories with you.”
“Me too,” the “Friends” star replied, adding: “That one afternoon, I was just sitting in my apartment, and there you were!”
Alongside the text messages, Skye also included a picture of the pair from when they appeared to be teenagers.
“My last exchange a week ago. I’m very very sad. Loved this guy,” the “River’s Edge” star captioned the photos.
Several followers offered their condolences to the British actress.
“That’s really wild that he’d just reached out to you bc he heard the song from your movie,” one fan wrote. “That seems very meant to be. So sorry for the loss of your friend.”
“My heartfelt condolences,” a second fan added. “To you for your loss of a dear one.”
“Oh wow! How lovely you had that moment & yet of course sad,” a third fan commented. “But it shows a deep connection you will continue together.”
The Post reached out to Skye for comment.
News that the late “Fools Rush In” actor had died broke Saturday after TMZ reported that the Hollywood star had been found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home.
The news outlet later released a chilling 15-second 911 dispatch call. “Agent 23. Rescue 23. EMS 9 on the radio. In response to the drowning,” a man can be heard saying. At times words were bleeped out from the audio.
Sources within the Los Angeles law enforcement say that police did not find any illegal drugs nearby nor do they suspect foul play.
However, sources did note that authorities found anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications inside the “Serving Sara” star’s home alongside pills for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Lt. Aimee Earl, who works in the investigations division of the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office, later told The Post that several tests, including a toxicology report, had been ordered but would most likely take several months to complete.
As a result, Perry’s manner and cause of death have been “deferred.”
On Sunday, Perry’s family released a statement saying that they were “heartbroken” over the sudden loss.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother,” Perry’s family said to People. “Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend.”
“You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love,” the statement added.
Skye is just one of several people to have expressed their love for the late actor.
Hank Azaria, who starred opposite Perry in “Friends,” recalled how Perry “lived to laugh.”
“As funny as he was on ‘Friends’ — and he was — and other things, too. He was just the funniest man ever. He lived to laugh,” Azaria, 59, noted.
The “Birdcage” star also revealed that Perry was instrumental in helping him get sober and brought him to his first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
“I’m a sober guy for 17 years. I want to say that the night I went into AA, Matthew brought me in the whole first year I was sober. We went to meetings together,” the “Night at the Museum” star said. “As a sober person, he was so caring and giving and wise and he totally helped me get sober.”
