The New England Patriots have decided to trade the 34th overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Instead of making a pick in that slot, they have sent the selection to the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Patriots gave up No. 34 and No. 137, getting No. 37 and No. 110 back in return. The Chargers went on to draft Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey.
The Patriots have not shied away from making their intentions public that they were open for business on Day 2 of the draft. Director of scouting Eliot Wolf, who is making the final call on decisions as the team’s de facto general manager, said as much on Thursday night.
“We have seven more picks, and we’ll probably move around a little bit,” Eliot Wolf said on Thursday night. “Hopefully acquire some more picks. But we feel strongly about the board and we’ll kind of see how it goes here. There’s a lot of other players that are — a lot of good players that are going to come off the board before our next one. So, we’ll kind of see how it goes here.”
The Patriots’ remaining portfolio in the 2024 draft looks as follows:
- Round 2: No. 37
- Round 3: No. 68
- Round 4: No. 103
- Round 4: No. 110
- Round 6: No. 180
- Round 6: No. 193 (via Jacksonville)
- Round 7: No. 231 (via Chicago)
The Patriots have made one selection so far in the draft, adding North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the third overall pick in Round 1 on Thursday.
