Though central Pennsylvania will likely only see rain, another winter storm is forecast to bring snow to the northern tier of the state this week.
The storm will first bring rain to the south before moving north on Wednesday, AccuWeather reports.
“The exact track of the storm as it moves into the Northeast will determine whether enough cold air is in place to bring widespread snow to the region,” according to the report. “It may be too warm in some of the major metropolitan areas like Philadelphia, New York and Boston for snow to fall -- a factor that has been causing these cities to miss out on snow during most storms this winter.”
The snow is forecast to arrive in northern Pennsylvania by about 6 p.m. Wednesday. A general 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected along the New York border, but up to 6 inches is possible in Erie.
Highs in Harrisburg are expected to stay in the 40s and 50s through Thursday before dropping to the 30s on Friday. A chance of rain will persist in the region through Thursday before things quiet down into the weekend.

Tuesday Night – Mostly cloudy skies. Low: 32
Wednesday – Cloudy skies, a chance of rain after 1 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain expected. High: 44
Wednesday Night – Rain likely, up to half an inch possible. Low: 37
Thursday – Rain likely before 1 p.m., less than a tenth of an inch possible. High: 53
Thursday Night – Mostly cloudy skies. Low: 28
Friday – Mostly sunny skies. High: 31
Friday Night – Mostly clear skies. Low: 13
