CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Wyoming Business Council (WBC) will be holding its quarterly board meeting virtually on Thursday.
This meeting will help decide projects and provide an opportunity to conduct business for the council.
“The infrastructure that’s required for busineses is incredibly important for it to be there and be timely. If a city doesnt have those, then they’re unable to expand a business, or recruit a business. Having that infrastructure in place, and the funds required to do so, is incredibly important to our state,” said Josh Dorrell, CEO of the Wyoming Business Council.
The 13 member state board evaluates projects submitted to the State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB) for final funding approval.
The Business Ready Community (BRC) grants help create the infrastructure necessary for businesses to thrive.
The four projects currently up for evaluation are a Data Center in Cheyenne, a community enhancement project in Jackson, and a planning project for a new hotel, and the installation of a ski lift in Shoshone.
These grants incentivize businesses into Wyoming and help offset the initial cost of creating these businesses, they then in turn help boost our local economies.
“Economic development, it’s a pretty slow game. The things that we do in terms of building infrastructure, funding business parks, putting it into the ground and getting it ready for business, will not always be seen immediately. But over time our communites will be able to grow because of the infrastructure we put in place,” said Dorrell.
