A week after a gunfire exchange between a man in crisis and police officers, new details about what happened are being made public.
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — New details are being released after Richfield police in Bloomington exchanged gunfire with a man during a crisis call.
Just after midnight on July 5, officers were called to a Bloomington home near the 8700 block of 12th Avenue South for reports of a suicidal man, the Minnesota Bureau of Apprehension (BCA) said in an update Friday.
Officials said the 36-year-old walked out of his garage with a shotgun before a Richfield officer fired less-lethal rounds. The man shot at the officers and the officers returned fire. No one was injured during the exchange, BCA said.
The officers are identified as Carter Johns, Bryan Rosas, and Patrick Sheady. The BCA said Sheady fired the less-lethal rounds.
The man was arrested at the scene but has not been charged. The BCA said it's continuing to investigate, including reviewing body-worn and squad car cameras.
