OSSAA plans meeting to bring sports back - KXII-TV

The OSSAA plans to meet on Friday to discuss a proposal to gradually bring high school sports back.

The proposal will be presented in three phases starting on June 1st. Here are just a few of the limitations and permitted items, more will be presented on Friday.

Phase I - June 1-29

coaches will not have face-to-face contact with athletes
no practices, camps or clinics
strength and conditioning will be permitted
temperature checks
hand washing
sanitized locker rooms and bathrooms will be required
all sports equipment will be sanitized every 30 minutes
only 2 people allowed on equipment with social distancing for groups
no personal items such as towels, bottles or gloves are allowed
coaches must wear face masks

Phase II - June 29-July 31

non-contact football practice can begin (helmet, no pads)
practice dummies or blocking shields can be used
no drills that would create contact
you may not hold camps, clinics or leagues
60 minute time-limit
must practice social distancing
intra-squad scrimmaged and tryouts are allowed

Phase III - August 1

practice continues for band, cross country, fall baseball, fast-pitch softball
all other activities to be discussed
