Strong thunderstorms on Sunday dumped up to four inches of rain on parts of Harris County, bringing reports of hail and tornado warnings to the area.
The storms began dissipating around 8:30 p.m., after dropping about 1.5 inches of rain in about 15 minutes in Carpenters Bayou near Channelview, according to Space City Weather. The most amount of rain, about 4.7 inches, fell within three hours just west of Crosby along South Diamondhead Boulevard.
At one point, a tornado warning was issued for Harris and parts of southern Montgomery counties, and residents of The Woodlands reported hail on social media.
Showers and thunderstorms remain likely on Memorial Day, mainly after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Some storms could produce up an inch of new rainfall.
