NASHVILLE -— Five more coronavirus patients have died in the last 10 days, bringing Nash County’s death toll from the pandemic to 30, public health officials said.

A male patient in his late 80s died Aug. 30; a male patient in his early 80s died Sept. 1; two male patients, one in his early 70s and one in his early 60s, died Sept. 2; and a male patient in his late 60s died Sunday.

All patients had other health problems in addition to COVID-19, said Nash County Health Director Bill Hill.

“To protect the privacy of each family, no further information will be released,” Hill said. “Our prayers and condolences go to each of the families and loved ones.”

Nash County reported 1,759 total cases as of Friday afternoon and 1,831 on Monday afternoon. The difference means 72 people received positive COVID-19 test results Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

County figures showed 1,117 patients recovered, 662 people isolated at home and 22 patients hospitalized due to the virus as of Monday.

Hill said everyone needs to help slow the spread of COVID- 19.

When away from home, Nash County residents are urged to wear a cloth face covering, remain 6 feet apart and avoid close contact with others and wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
