This is a new series we are starting at Sixers Wire where we will be looking at the 17 players that comprise the Philadelphia 76ers roster — 15 under contract and the two players on two-way deals — and give them each three goals for the 2020-21 season.

Up next is Ryan Broekhoff who the team originally signed before the bubble to try and bring in some shooting, but he was not able to participate after his wife tested positive for the virus. He then stayed home to care for her and make sure he takes the proper precautions.

For him to make this Sixers roster, he is going to have to do what he does best. Those three things are as follows:

Shoot the lights out

Broekhoff has only been in the league for two seasons, both with the Dallas Mavericks, and he proved to be a legitimate shooter. He shot 40.9% from deep in the 2018-19 season and he then shot 39.2% from deep in the 2019-20 season. It was those shooting numbers as to why Philadelphia is giving him a shot as shooting is so paramount to their success. For Broekhoff to make the roster, he will have to light it up from deep.

Show something new

While Broekhoff will certainly hang his hat on the offensive end of the floor and his shotmaking, he will have to show some other things in order to make the roster. If he can be able to put the ball on the floor and make some plays for himself and others, that would be a big plus. Also, he will have to be able to guard his position on defense and make some moves on that end as well.

Push Justin Anderson

Like Justin Anderson, Broekhoff will have to fight to make this roster. Anderson is ahead of him due to the fact that he can play tough defense and Broekhoff will have to be even better on that end to make sure he earns a spot. Coach Doc Rivers will certainly give both guys a chance to play and make the roster, but it will come down to just guys being able to impress him the most in camp and in preseason.
