The officers had responded to an alert from a ShotSpotter detector around 10:15 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Prairie Avenue, authorities said. They saw two men in a “dark-colored SUV,” but police spokeswoman Sally Bown said it wasn’t clear from the report whether the car was parked.
