NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -A group of local business professionals from different industries joined together to promote growth in the community. The “Think North Platte” coalition is aiming to turn visitors into residents of North Platte.
“I think it is on us,” said Organizer Cory Johanson. “I think it is our group of people and that demographic to push those things on. We have to come up with ideas to bring new businesses and new people to North Platte and have them stay here and disperse some of that economic growth.”
People may come and go, but the goal is to make North Platte a place those future generations can join and continue to grow our community.
“The idea behind Think North Platte is that when you are talking to different businesses or different people about North Platte and people say why North Platte? The response is like why not North Platte,” said Johanson.
The organization takes a new approach to increase the traffic to our area.
“We look at things differently. We might have some different ideas or interests or things like that than some other generations,” said Johanson.
The age range for “Think North Platte” is from the late 20s to early 40s. Members work together to find ways for North Platte to be more welcoming to younger professionals.
“We need to be more combined as a community when it comes to trying to push some of these things forward,” said Johanson. “We have a lot of awesome things going on in North Platte right now. My wife and I are from North Platte, and we want to give our kids as many options as they can to want to move back to North Platte. That is the mindset behind it.”
