New effort launches to bring art to rural North Dakota - Grand Forks Herald

BISMARCK — A new partnership will bring public artwork art to each region of North Dakota that will reflect that area's history, landscape and cultural heritage.

Arts Across the Prairie — Placemaking in Rural North Dakota is a partnership between the North Dakota Council on the Arts and the North Dakota Department of Transportation that aims to bring art to rural areas of the state. All eight pieces will be displayed in rural locations, according to a news release.

The partnership means the transportation department will contribute to pull-outs and signs at selected sites, giving people a safe and convenient way to view the art.

Funds are now being raised both regionally and nationally, with a roughly $4 million budget planned for the program over seven years. The effort is already underway in northwestern North Dakota's Region 1.
