BizBeat: New salon to bring good vibes to Jefferson City - Jefferson City News Tribune

You receive the energy you put out. That's why Kim Pope-Reason wants to release only positive energy at her new business, The Vibe Salon.

Pope-Reason plans to open The Vibe Salon, at 118 E. Dunklin St., on May 4.

She mainly caters to hair coloring but will also offer hair cuts, perms, facial waxing and other similar services.

When clients walk into The Vibe Salon, vibrant green plants and Buddha statues will greet them. Pope-Reason said she hopes this will create positive vibes in the salon.

"I really am a big believer in the energy you put out comes back to you," she said. "I really focus on doing that for my clients, putting out some good energy and be a positive influencer for them and that will come back to you. If I put the good vibes out, they'll come back."

Pope-Reason originally hoped to open the salon sooner but had to push back the opening date due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Cole County issued a stay-at-home order in late March that expired Saturday, but residents must still follow Missouri's statewide stay-at-home order.

Salons must remain closed because staff and clients can't maintain 6 feet of physical distance, according to the statewide order, which is set to expire May 3.

"The only positive is I've had a lot of time to detail and work on the salon," Pope-Reason said.

Because of the pandemic, the next couple of months will be busy for Pope-Reason. After rescheduling all April appointments for May, which was already mostly full, she's preparing to work overtime to catch up on appointments.

With 13 years of experience as a stylist, Pope-Reason said she was ready to open her business. She worked at Cost Cutters in Jefferson City for about 10 years before becoming an independent stylist at Reflections Hair Salon for the last few years.

She was voted best hairstylist in the News Tribune's 2019 Reader's Choice Awards and this year's Jefferson City Magazine awards.

"I would love to thank my clients who have just cheered me on for the last 13 years and have helped me wait it out the last six weeks," she said. "They really have just been amazing and really have helped me pull through. I wouldn't be able to do this without them."

The Vibe Salon is an appointment-only business. Clients can contact Pope-Reason at 660-998-6080 or [email protected]

Prices vary depending on services and hair techniques, she said.
