The Ravens are continuing to add importance depth to their offensive line, by adding Ben Bredeson out of Michigan in the fourth round.
Clearly a necessary priority after losing Marshal Yanda to retirement and with Matt Skura coming off a devastating leg injury. They drafted Ben Powers last season and Tyre Phillips earlier in this draft.
All three have a chance to fill in next to Orlando Brown Jr. on the right side of the line, forming a crucial element of the Ravens' running game.
Thanks to his physicality and experience, Bredeson will have every opportunity to win the starting job.
Here are five things to know about the newest Baltimore Raven.
1. He's excellent in pass protection
The Ravens have obviously put a heavy focus on their rushing attack so far, highlighted by the addition of J.K. Dobbins. But Bredeson adds value in a different way as the Ravens attempt to add depth to their offensive line: pass protection.
PFF College named him the best pass-blocking guard in the country in 2019, with 451 snaps spent in pass protection. In those snaps, he allowed zero hits, and zero sacks.
2. He comes from a premier program
This selection continues an obvious trend for the Ravens in the 2020 NFL Draft. Bredeson is the seventh pick for the Ravens this year. The schools those guys have come from? Ohio State (x2), LSU, Mississippi State, Texas, Texas A&M, and now Michigan.
Those are some of the premier programs in all of college football. Bredeson has gone up against the best of the best in his collegiate career, and will now be joining the Ravens along with at least two players from his bitter rivals in the Buckeyes.

3. That premier program has obvious ties to the Ravens
Of course, the Ravens will be linked closely to Michigan for as long as John and Jim Harbaugh are the head coaches at the two respective spots. With severely limited option this year for meeting with players, John's ability to connect with Jim about his Michigan roster certainly played a role in the Ravens' comfort with Bredeson.
Bredeson joins Willie Henry and Chris Wormley as Wolverines to be drafted by the Ravens while Jim Harbaugh has been the coach.
4. He's tough, and durable
Bredeson didn't miss a single game in his four seasons at Michigan, starting every game in his final three seasons. That in itself shows a certain level of toughness, considering the violent nature of playing in the trenches.
In 2018, Bredeson won the Toughest Player Award at Michigan. The Ravens have always valued toughness, making him a perfect fit in Baltimore.
5. He has a photographic memory
Bredeson won't have any problems learning the Ravens' complex playbook. The guard has a photographic memory, and he challenged himself by taking the ACT in the 6th grade. His score beat 75% of high schoolers who took it that year.
