Dreaded Cold Front Today: After a beautiful day yesterday (minus some storms), I am saddened to report that our taste of summer will end today. Some good news though, skies should start off with some sunshine (after any lingering fog lifts) today and temperatures will be mild with lows only in the 40s and 50s. A cold front will start to move through (northwest to southeast) in the mid morning hours. This front will bring an increase in cloud cover and eventually some scattered rain showers. Immediately behind the front will come breezy north northwest winds gusting to 30 mph. Temperatures should cease to warm behind the front but we should hit the low 70s south, mid and upper 60s east and to highway 20, and upper 50s to low 60s north of highway 20 before the front. A few thunderstorms may initiate on the south side of the viewing area this afternoon but the latest trends have these storms out of the viewing area.
Tonight: Skies will become mostly clear and as the winds continue from the northwest, lows drop to the low and mid 30s.
Thursday: It will be a much cooler day with highs in the low to upper 40s. Skies will start off mostly sunny but some wrap around clouds will move in and make the skies partly sunny. It will be windy with a northwest wind at 15 to 25, gusting to 35 mph. Lows Thursday night will plummet to the upper 20s.
Friday: All things considered, Friday will be a decent but cool day. Highs will be in the upper 40s to low 50s with sunshine to start and clouds increasing in the afternoon. Winds will die down a bit.
Easter Weekend: Rain showers look to develop overhead for Friday night and continue into Saturday. Highs will reach the low 50s. A warm night will keep things as rain heading into Sunday. Easter looks like it could be a soggy one with soaking rain showers and highs in the mid to upper 40s. As the system departs, it will give us a shot at some cold air Sunday night with lows in the mid 20s possible. There will be a chance for rain and snow showers.
Monday/Tuesday: The back side of the system will keep clouds around for both days with highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid 20s. It will also be breezy/windy. Brrrr.
Rivers: The Mississippi river is near its crest but remains in the minor to moderate flood stage. Levels should go down after this week.
