Jazz UpFront hosts outdoor event to bring the community together - week.com

BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) -- Jazz UpFront is celebrating its reopening by hosting an outdoor event called Let the Music Move You.

Owned by James and Linda Gaston, Jazz UpFront is a black and female owned bar in Bloomington-Normal.

The event is occurring today, June 20, on Front St. from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Jazz UpFront says the event is to show support to the entire community, through music, and bring them together safely to unite as one.

The event will promote voter registration and speak to the significance music has, from a cultural and historical perspective.

Featured artists include Dexter O’neil and Funkyard and Straight Answer Jazz Trio.

The local musicians whose livelihoods were adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, will finally be given an opportunity to share their talents and highlight the impact music has on community.

Jazz UpFront is taking extra precautions to promote safety and social distancing by ensuring the community has sufficient space to spread out.

Free face masks and hand sanitizer will also be provided to anyone who needs it.
