Here’s What to Bring to the Beach, According to 5 Summer Enthusiasts - Vogue

I alternate between my Denizeri Ege One Piece with a scooped back, which is super comfortable and easy to move and swim in, and the Symi Bikini Top combined with the high waist Ege Bottoms as a bikini set. All the styles are meant to be mixed with one another and I love to personalize it rather than going with a set colorway or style.

My mom always misted herself with Evian Facial Spray when I was growing up to cool herself. That habit stuck with me. I love the Evanhealy lavender combination as it is particularly cooling for sensitized skin. Weleda Lip Balm is the only stick that doesn’t really melt when it is in your bag all day at the beach. If I’m headed somewhere after [the beach], I rub Noto’s multi-use products on my lips, eyelids and cheeks. The stain pots do not get compromised with heat.

I collect Turkish from Alaçati, which are are thin and lightweight but absorb water well. They’re super functional as they do not take massive amounts of space in your bag, and are light to carry.

I just finished Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Her novel Purple Hibiscus is one of my favorites. I am reading The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett next and will probably move on to a Turkish book later. I like to alternate as it gets harder to stay connected to your mother tongue when you have lived away from home for so long.

Anna Santangelo, Santangelo Founder

For somebody that prefers swimming topless or completely naked (when I can) I probably own too many bikinis. Lately, I’ve been wearing these magical crocheted ones my beautiful assistant in Berlin knitted me. I also can’t wait to get a pair from my friend Emily Martin who just started her own brand, Emsah. They’re [crafted] from hand-painted lycra made from 80% recycled polyester. I never leave for the beach without a hat. I have a very thrashed old camo Napa Auto Parts hat that’s been my fav for a while. I’m also trying to get in the habit of wearing sunglasses more. My boyfriend just found me an old pair of tortoise shell Oakley Eye Jackets that I’m super excited to rep. And of course I never go anywhere with at least a few pieces of the jewelry I make. Even when I’m not at the beach, they make me feel close to the ocean.

It’s important that [my sunscreen] is made from natural ingredients and of course reef-safe. I love Zoca Lotion’s made-in-Rockaway SPF 36. It smells of camomile, calendula and lavender and is a pleasing pale pistachio green color because of the avocado oil in it. It’s also always nice to bring something to hydrate my skin after a long day in the sun and water. I usually try to pack a small bottle of Living Libations Sea Buckthorn Best Skin Ever and Emugency chapstick. It’s made from hydrating emu oil and pure botanical oils. It’s so good to even put under your eyes, eyelids, and lips.

My favorite towel is a dreamy Loewe Paula’s Ibiza towel that I treated myself to last year. It’s so soft and a huge size.

I always bring water in an insulated Klean Kanteen, which is amazing because even on the hottest days at the beach the water in it stays cold.
