Remnants of Hurricane Laura, which made landfall in southern Louisiana Thursday morning as an "extremely dangerous" Category 4 hurricane, will likely bring rain to Delaware on Saturday.
Tropical storm-force winds are much less likely, though forecasted thunderstorms may bring some strong gusts. Still, the "primary hazard at this point looks to be heavy rain leading to flash flooding," the National Weather Service said Thursday morning.
"Depending on the track/timing of the remnants of Hurricane Laura, some of the storms on Saturday could be severe," the weather agency said. It added, however, there is "considerable uncertainty."
As of Thursday morning, coastal flooding in Delaware was not expected. Heavy rain of 1 to 3 inches could lead to localized flooding elsewhere in the state, though.
The National Weather Service will continue providing storm updates through the weekend.
Hurricane Laura slammed the border of Texas and Louisiana Thursday morning, tearing roofs off buildings, shattering windows and killing a 14-year-old girl, USA Today reported.

It also left more than 650,000 people without power, and is predicted to cause even more damage as it continues moving north toward Arkansas Thursday evening.
As of 10 a.m., the hurricane was less than 70 miles from Shreveport, Louisiana with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph. When it made landfall around 1 a.m. central time, it had sustained winds of 150 mph.
While high winds remain a threat to northern Louisiana and Arkansas throughout the day, "widespread flash flooding" also poses a significant risk.
"Dangerous" storm surge along the Gulf Coast, too — from Sabine Pass, Texas, to Port Fourchon, Louisiana — "will result in elevated water levels for the next few hours," the National Hurricane Center said at 11 a.m.
