TAMPA, Fla. - Your parents' favorite band – and possibly yours too – returns to Tampa Friday night, more than a year after COVID-19 shutdowns put the Rolling Stones' 2020 'No Filter' Tour on hold.
The legendary U.K. rockers will play a show at on Tampa's biggest stage at Raymond James Stadium, just over two months after drummer Charlie Watts passed away.
The concert follows stops in Charlotte, Nashville and Los Angeles. Most recently, the band performed in Minneapolis on Oct. 24.
Lead singer and founding member Mick Jagger said he's excited to be back on stage again, thanking fans for their patience amid pandemic cancellations and rescheduled tour dates. If you bought a ticket for the cancelled July 2020 Tampa concert, it will be honored at Friday night's re-scheduled show.
Tickets for the concert are still available, including exclusive VIP packages. One local connection fans might not know about: Legend has it that playing after a show in 1965, the band was staying at Clearwater's Fort Harrison Hotel when Keith Richards came up with one of the band's signature hits.

"So (Richards) got up the next morning," said Clearwater Historical Society president Allison Dolan. "They're sitting by the pool of the Fort Harrison Hotel, and he plays it for Mick Jagger, and they end up writing the entire song for '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' by the pool of the Fort Harrison."
That's not the band's only connection to Florida. In 2020, Jagger bought a four-bedroom house in Lakewood Ranch for his partner, choreographer Melanie Hamrick. They have a four-year old son together.
