New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston got into it with a reporter after the team decided to run the score up as opposed to kneeling the back to end the game.
At the end of the Saints’ season finale against the Atlanta Falcons, the team was at the Falcons’ 1-yard line with a little over a minute to go. They led the Falcons 41-17 and set up in “Victory Formation” — the formation most teams use to simply kneel the ball to let the clock run out.
Unexpectedly, Winston handed the ball off to running back Jamaal Williams instead of kneeling the ball. Williams scored a touchdown.

More than a few people — including Falcons coach Arthur Smith — took exception to the play.
Even a reporter questioned the question, asking Winston if he had any regrets.
“Do we regret scoring 41 points on them?” Winston asked the reporter. “Do you think we regret that?”
The reporter argued that because the teams play in the same division, the Saints will have to play them twice next season and there will surely be bad blood.
“How do you feel about?” Winston asked, to which the reporter said “not good.”
Winston pressed him further.
“The head coach tells you to kneel it out?” the reporter said. “You’re asking for my opinion? I think you should’ve kneeled it out. I’m just telling you as respectfully as I can. You answered my question as respectfully as you could, and I’m telling you as respectfully as I can that I respectfully disagree.”
Before that exchange, Winston explained the decision to run the play came from the players on the field. Saints coach Dennis Allen called for Winston to kneel the ball, but the players wanted Williams to get a touchdown because he hadn’t scored all season.
