SPRINGFIELD (AP) — Illinois officials released updated deer totals for the latest archery and firearm seasons this week. They say hunters brought home more than 153,000 deer.
More than 153,000 deer were brought in during the latest archery and gun seasons, that's according to updated numbers released by Illinois officials this week.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources said in a statement that hunters harvest 153,048 deer statewide in 2019 and before the season ended on January 19.
The traditional gun season in November and December brought in most of the deer, totaling 75,349. Archery season harvested 67,696 deer between October and mid-January.
The rest of the harvest came during the brief muzzle loader season in mid-December, the late-winter deer season in late December and mid-January and during the mid-October hunt for youth hunters.
