The Crawford AuSable Day Care & Preschool has about 100 kids on their wait list right now, that’s why they hope this new solution will help with the childcare shortage.
“This building was never designed to be a childhood center, we’ve just kind of turned it into what we’ve needed it to be,” says Executive Director Salena Laskowski.
The Crawford AuSable Day Care & Preschool has outgrown its current building.
President on the Board of Directors Tracy Wilson says, “Our community is really growing right now we’ve had new buildings come in, new factories and it’s created a work force boom, but behind every successful employee is a daycare that they can trust.”
From managing the terrific twos, to keeping the preschoolers entertained, Laskowski and the other workers have run out of space.
“Right now it’s a lot of shuffling, it’s utilizing the rooms to its full capacity,” Laskowski says.
The Mt Hope Lutheran Church in Grayling partnered up with the daycare. To build them a brand new, state of the art and nearly million dollar facility.
Wilson says, “We need the space, we need the room to grow, and they were looking for a mission to serve the people of their community.”
The daycare even plans to add an infant and toddler room, something that hasn’t been available in the area since the 2000s.
Laskowski says, “Being here is going to be so easy, it’s going to make the staffs life’s easier, it’s going to be such a positive loving environment for our families.”
The building is scheduled to be finished in March and they hope to move in by April.
