Nor’easter to bring snow to Massachusetts Monday; here’s how much we could get - MassLive.com

A nor’easter is expected to hit the state on Monday, bringing with it moderate snowfall and gusty winds.

Snow will start accumulating late Monday and stop by Tuesday morning. Worcester County will see 4 to 6 inches of snowfall. The Pioneer Valley is expected to get roughly 3 inches, with Hampden County seeing closer to an inch or less, according to the National Weather Service.

Berkshire County will be hit the hardest, with roughly 6 inches of snowfall expected in most non-elevated communities and 6 to 8 inches forecast in the mountains.

“The ground will be turning white again on Monday in parts of the Northeast,” the National Weather Service tweeted.

Areas east of Worcester County should expect no major snowfall, but the Cape and Islands will be hit with particularly gusty overnight winds.

Lows Monday night will dip to below 35 degrees across the state. Snowfall is more likely to be heavy and wet given the marginal temperatures.

More than 72 hours out, the forecast is subject to change. There is a 70% to 90% chance, though, that parts of Western and Central Massachusetts will be hit by 4 inches or more of snowfall within 24 hours.
