KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — Wind farm construction is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to northwestern Arizona, a multinational oil and gas company said.
BP Wind Energy North America Inc. will build a 38-square-mile (98-square-kilometer) wind farm in White Hills, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) north of Kingman and south of Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Kingman Daily Miner reported Tuesday.
“The project will bring up to 300 well-paid construction jobs,” said Communication Specialist Lisa Paul on behalf of NextEra Energy Resources, the company that owns the authorized wind energy. “They will be posted online by December 2020.”
The project is expected to generate and deliver electrical power to the regional electrical transmission grid by connecting with Western Area Power Administration’s Mead-Peacock transmission line, company officials said.
A portion of the project will be built on federal land, and temporary road restrictions were already put in place Saturday, land officials said.
The wind farm is owned by NextEra Energy Renewables Holdings LLC, NextEra Energy Renewables Holdings LLC and Mohave County Wind Farm LLC.
