Amazon is bringing one of its 4-star stores to 700 Lincoln Road in the space vacated by Nexxt Café last December.
The concept is a “best of” Amazon products – everything in the stores is rated 4 stars and above, a “top seller” or “new and trending.”
According to the company’s website, featured products are from some of the most popular online categories including devices, consumer electronics, kitchen, home, toys, books, and games. Sections within the physical stores include “Most-Wished-For, “If You Like, Then You’ll Love" pairings, and “Highly-Rated” tables.
The retailer encourages customers at the 4-star stores to “browse and explore as long as they need” with opportunities to “test drive Amazon devices from our Echo, Kindle, Fire tablet, and Fire TV families, along with a wide selection of smart home accessories that work with Alexa.”
Asked to confirm plans for a store, an Amazon spokesperson responded via email, “Yes, we are excited to bring Amazon 4-star to Miami Beach. Stay tuned for additional details down the road.”
The property is owned by Nathan Silverstein through his Seven Hundred Realty Corp. According to the City of Miami Beach Citizen Self Service (CSS) Portal, building permits for a 5,000 sq. ft. space were applied for in February. As of Friday, June 5, the process is indicated as 6% complete.
Amazon has 4-star stores in seven states. Three in Florida, including the Lincoln Road location, are listed as “coming soon.” The others are in The Mall at Millenia in Orlando and The Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens.
As businesses gradually reopen following COVID-19 closures, some on the pedestrian mall may permanently close including Balans restaurant. Notices on the doors of the Kiehl's retail store and the Florida Currency Exchange, just off Lincoln Road on Meridian, indicate those locations are permanently closed. But new stores and restaurants are still coming including Showfields, a retailer offering “immersive experiences that bridge art and retail” according to an announcement from the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (BID). Originally scheduled for a May opening, a spokeswoman for the BID said the timeline has pushed back to an anticipated August opening.
Meanwhile construction continues for the new Andrés Carne de Res, the world-renowned restaurant from Colombia that plans to open its first U.S. location at 455 Lincoln Road.
Also under construction, Harry’s Pizzeria at 1680 Meridian.
Paletas Morelia at 1664 Lenox which will feature gourmet popsicles made from 100% natural ingredients is in final permitting stage.
The owners of La Cerveceria and Havana 1957 are moving forward with plans to open Cortadito Coffee House this summer.
The Dr. Martens store coming to 828 Lincoln has postponed its planned June 1 opening. No new date has been announced though the store was close to being finished when this reporter went by last week.
