The Boston Red Sox have traded pitcher John Schreiber just four days after he and other Red Sox pitchers reported for spring training in Fort Myers, Florida.The Red Sox announced Saturday that they dealt Schreiber, a right-handed reliever, to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher David Sandlin.Schreiber, 29, appeared in 111 games with the Red Sox since he was claimed off waivers from the Detroit Tigers in February 2021. He posted a 6-5 record, 2.90 earned run average, 132 strikeouts and nine saves in 114 2/3 innings pitched.Sandlin, 22, is ranked by Baseball America as the Royals' No. 20 prospect. He has made 15 starts in Kansas City's minor league system since being drafted in the 11th round in 2022. Sandlin has a 4-2 record with a 3.41 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 68 2/3 innings while holding opponents to a .250 batting average.
